![]() The next key is to remove only the material necessary. Getting smooth finishes starts with the weld. Again, just shoot from the hip here:waving::cool2:Īnd, yeah, that piece in the pic has been blasted. Guess one could try smearing some tooth paste into the homemade pad and letting it dry. Difference being that the "real" pads seem to have been impregnated with some sort of polishing compound. Haven't had the need to try this myself, but seems do-able. I think they'd probably stick to the hook velcro pretty good. I think one could convert a regular sanding disk backer with some stick on velcro and you could buy the green scrubby pads at the local super market and just cut them round. Got a black, no name one that works great. I didn't hold the pad for love or money and was too stiff. They are the cats arse for blending out to practically invisible. Once down to 120 sanding disks or flap wheels, I use these round scotch-brite pads that stick to a hook and loop( velcro-like) backer pad. Blending out the sanded area a ways helps prevent an obvious "dip" in the surface. Like others have said, technique and finer grits are key. I also wore a mask the whole time - lots of dust. Also, I have found that the better quality sandpaper is worth it (the blue stuff) AND that while I have a few Harbor Freight tools, their Chinese made sanding belts are worthless (though the stuff labeled "Russia" is pretty good. I budgeted WAY to little time for the sanding and too little money for sandpaper. Finally, 120 by hand with a padded block. Then 100 grit by hand with a block, and 120 grit belt sander. I then spent a lot of time with a 3x18" belt sander - 80 grit (with occasional returns to a 50 grit belt) - and all the same direction. This leaves a lot of the circular swirls in the steel. Then 80 grit flap disks, then 80 grit sanding disks. Much like Richard advised, I began with 50 grit flap disks on 4 1/2" and 7" grinders. Legs are 4"x4"x.125", and cross pieces are 2"x2"x.125" - mild steel (I'll shoot it with clear coat later). I'm just finishing a dining room table, and have spent a LOT of time grinding/sanding. Good info from ggarner, Swells and raferguson. The example shown is certainly a very good example of what is possible. Start the tool off the work, and bring it down with the tool moving.ĭue to the nature of my work, I often end up trying to grind out welds to the undetectable point, with some success. But most of us can't justify spending $900 for a machine to sand welds.Ī couple of other tips: A light touch, and never let the tool stop on the work. There are some high end tools that leave linear marks on the work, rather than the circular marks left by sanding disks or flap disks. Then you switch to 220 grit and do it again. You grind with 120 grit until all the 60 grit marks are gone. When you switch to 120 grit, you change your position such that the sanding marks are going north-south. Let's say that you were grinding with 60 grit, and the sanding marks were going east-west. What he suggested is when you switch grits, change direction at the same time. When he saw me work, he said that I was not too bad, he figured that I could be trained to grind welds. He said when they hire a new person, they spend a week grinding welds on practice pieces before they are considered good enough to work on real product. I spoke to one guy who worked at a high end aluminum furniture manufacturer. That said, I switch to sanding disks for the finer grits, like 120.Ī lot is in the technique. ![]() Bowls above the valves, flow around the valve guide boss especially on the exhaust port, and the ports of course are areas to focus on.I too am a fan of flap disks. Sanding rolls are good at the end on aluminum to leave a nice finish and blend the porting work.įocus on the top half of the runners, both intake and exhaust. Anything that requires moderate aluminum porting I've actually had very good success using wood rasps from Home Depot use the slot style edges rather than the spike style and the finish is pretty smooth as well. I've had trouble porting aluminum with the standard carbide bits, having the aluminum start to melt into the small grooves and needing a pick to get them out. The aluminum carbide bits have very deep groove teeth and remove a lot of material fast. Nice to see someone doing the hard work themselves rather than just pulling out the credit card! I had a set of pre-eagle 5.7 heads to port but never got around to it.

![]() Starting our Back 4 Blood benchmarks at 1080p, even at the epic setting and running at native resolution, you can see that just about every dedicated GPU managed to run at 60 fps or more. You should be able to estimate where missing GPUs should fall, but if there's a card missing that you really want to see, let us know in the comments. We've included all of the latest Nvidia RTX 30-series GPUs, AMD's RX 6000-series GPUs, and then a smattering of previous generation cards. We'll provide a deeper dive into the settings and image quality below, but let's get start with the graphics card comparison benchmarks. There's an exception to this, in that we also tested integrated graphics at 1080p and 720p using the low preset (still with FSR ultra quality). To make up for that, we also tested all of the potential cards with FSR set to ultra quality, and DLSS set to quality mode. Because Back 4 Blood isn't particularly demanding, we've also stuck with just using the epic preset. Due to the wild swings in framerate that are possible during a horde event, we've avoided those, but know that based on our limited testing, you could see performance that's 10–20% lower than what we show in these charts in the worst-case scenarios.Īs usual, we've tested at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K. We've resorted to running through a test sequence manually, logging frametimes using OCAT and then using that data to generate our charts. ![]() Unfortunately, there's no built-in benchmark in Back 4 Blood - see our guide for how to make a good built-in benchmark for more on this subject. This appears to be an Nvidia-promoted game, though the inclusion of AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution could mean it's more of an agnostic title that's not specifically promoted by either GPU brand. Nvidia's drivers specifically mention being game ready for Back 4 Blood while AMD's drivers do not - basically the reverse of what we saw with our Far Cry 6 performance testing. We've updated to the latest Nvidia's 496.13 drivers and AMD 21.10.2 drivers. We also used an Asus PN50 Mini-PC with a Ryzen 7 4800U chip to test AMD's integrated graphics performance. Besides the above, we also checked out performance on a laptop with a Core i7-1065G7 and a different laptop with a Core i7-1165G7 - those are Intel's fastest Ice Lake and Tiger Lake mobile GPUs, respectively. We've tested Back 4 Blood using our standard graphics test PC, equipped with a Core i9-9900K CPU, to see how the various GPUs actually stack up. We'll have more detail on the settings near the end of this article. Let's also note that while there's no mention of VRAM, based on our testing you only need a 4GB card to attempt running at 4K epic settings, and 2GB was more than enough for 1080p epic settings. ![]() There's no mention of what you might need for 30 fps at low settings, maybe only at 720p, but we'll cover that as well. And finally, for 4K 60 fps at epic quality, with DLSS or FSR, you'll supposedly need an RTX 2080 Ti or RX 6800. ![]() 1440p at epic quality recommends an RTX 2070 or Radeon VII, and we get our first mention of DLSS and FSR as being necessary (they're not). 1080p high at 60 fps recommends a GTX 970 or RX 590 - again, that's a rather lopsided comparison. The RX 570 oddly falls in that same category, even though it's noticeably faster. But this is basically Left 4 Dead 3, mostly created by the same people as the first two games, just without Valve's involvement - a good thing since L4D3 likely won't ever see the light of day, given Gabe's apparent aversion to the number three.īack to the official recommendations, even a lowly GTX 1050 Ti will supposedly manage 60 fps at 1080p and low settings. You won't find fancy schmancy ray tracing effects here, though the game does look pretty good. The Back 4 Blood system requirements look quite tame, and there's a good reason for it. Our testing ranges from the top options in our GPU benchmarks hierarchy, down to rather old cards like the GTX 1050, and we've even included some Intel and AMD integrated graphics options. Which is good, since the best graphics cards still cost an arm and a leg. Spoiler: It broke 60 fps on just about everything, provided you use the appropriate settings. Back 4 Blood arrived just in time for your Halloween zombie-filled party, and we've tested it out on a bunch of graphics cards to see how well it runs. ![]() ![]() In the spring of 1989, he frequently joined protesters as they gathered in central Beijing’s Tiananmen Square in spite of growing tensions with Chinese authorities. ![]() In Beijing, Yu became sympathetic to the student-led movement advocating against governmental corruption and for greater social freedom. In 1988, he moved to Beijing to pursue his writing career, enrolling in graduate studies at Lu Xun Literature Institute, where he read works by Faulkner, among other foreign classics. Yu cemented his status as a rising literary star when Beijing wenxue published this avant-garde work in 1987. In 1986, Yu first encountered the fiction of Kafka, which he remarked was “a gift of fate.” Later that year, at a literary conference in Beijing, well-known critic Li Tuo complimented a draft of Yu’s short story “Shiba sui chu men yuan xing” (“On the Road at Eighteen”). In 1984, Beijing wenxue published several of his stories, one of which won the journal’s annual award, and Yu formally transferred to the Haiyan Cultural Center, where he met Pan Yinchun, whom he married in 1985. He read novels by Márquez and published his first short story in January 1983. Thereafter, Yu devoted himself to writing in his free time, living alone in order to focus on his literary efforts. In 1979, while in dental training in Ningbo, Yu encountered the work of Nobel Prize-winning Japanese writer Yasunari Kawabata, whose detailed novels impressed him. He later remarked that he did not like the work, eight hours a day of looking “at other people’s mouths, which are not the world’s most scenic places,” and found life as a dentist “gloomy.” He noticed that the employees of the local cultural center seemed to enjoy a relaxed work environment, and they told him that if he were able to get his writing published, he could request official permission to change his job. He learned about storytelling and imagination from expressions of jealousy, anger, and fear in the dazibao.Īfter Yu completed his secondary education in 1977, his parents apprenticed him to a dentist. The posters were a part of everyday life during the Cultural Revolution, and their vitriolic accusations and denunciations showed Yu a different side of human nature than that which appeared in his government-censored studies and reading. Dazibao were handwritten placards on which citizens posted anonymous complaints about those they claimed had deviated from official ideology. Yu found another source of literary inspiration in the dazibao (big character posters), which lined the streets of the town. He later reveled in forbidden Western classics that were circulating clandestinely in pieces. He eagerly consumed all the government-approved literature he could, especially enjoying such novels as Li Xintian’s Shanshan de hongxing (1972), the story of a boy’s coming of age in the years before the Chinese Revolution of 1949. Literature was scarce in the village, but in 1972, when Yu completed Xiangyang Primary School, the Haiyan library reopened, and his father got library cards for him and his brother. He often wandered the halls of the hospital where his parents worked, and in 1971, the family moved to the hospital staff quarters, opposite the morgue. Yu was six years old at the beginning of the Cultural Revolution. When Yu was two, he and his elder brother moved with their parents to the rural Zhejiang village of Haiyan. His father, Hua Zizhi, worked in a vaccination brigade and was studying to become a surgeon, and his mother, Yu Peiwen, was a nurse. Yu was born on 3 April 1960 in the city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. ![]() Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Publisher for Windows) can be downloaded from this link. Multiply it by the percentage you are looking for You are then going to take that off the full price to find out what the laptop will cost you. The percentage that you need to find is 20%, or the discount offered by the supplier. In this example, the whole is £500, or the cost of the laptop before the discount is applied. How much will the laptop cost from that supplier? You have checked local suppliers and one company has offered to give you 20% off the list price of £500. Let’s suppose that you want to buy a new laptop computer. This is easiest to understand with an example. Work out the value of 1%, then multiply it by the percentage you need to find. The general rule for finding a given percentage of a given whole is: This is partly why so many countries use a metric system of measurement and decimal currency. Importantly, this also makes it much easier to make comparisons between percentages (which all effectively have the common denominator of 100) than it is between fractions with different denominators. It is much simpler to work with parts of 100 than thirds, twelfths and so on, especially because quite a lot of fractions do not have an exact (non-recurring) decimal equivalent. We use percentages to make calculations easier. For example, if there had been 200 cells in the grid, each percentage (1%) would be two cells, and every cell would be half a percent. The answer is that you convert the individual elements that make up the whole into a percentage. It is easy to work out the percentage when there are 100 individual ‘things’ making up the whole, as in the grid above. Again, out of 100 cells, 17 are white, or 17%. There is one red cell, two green, five blue, 25 purple, and 50 yellow. Add up the number of other cells, and take them from 100.Out of 100 cells, 17% are therefore white. Its full name is pressure nominal, the unit is MPa. AR400 Flat Bars ASTM A514 ASTM A829 AISI 4130/AISI 4140 Marine & Offshore Steel. In the valve piping system, we can also see another parameter: PN, which is the nominal pressure. From the weight of 1 kg acting on an area of 1 cm², its value is exactly equal to about 10⁵ Pa=1bar, which means that what we call 1 kg (pressure) = 1 bar. The kilogram in general pressure units is an acronym. Then comes the introduction of Kg (kilogram). Psi and bar are used more often, and MPa is rarely used. It seems very complicated, but in fact, the conversion in daily life is generally between psi and bar, and between bar and MPa. Psi means "pound per square inch", which means 1 pound of force acts on an area of 1 square inch. The metric units we usually use are KPa, MPa, and bar. The unit of pressure is Pascal, which is "Pa", 1 Pa is equal to 1 N of force acting on an area of 1 square meter, that is, 1Pa=1N/m². Metric Units: KPa, MPa, Barįirst, we must realize that pressure does not force, the unit of pressure is N, and pressure refers to the vertical force on the unit area of an object. Next, I will explain the conversion method of pressure units KPa, MPa, bar, psi, and Kg in detail for you. Different countries and regions use different units, so in international trade, it is very important to convert the two to achieve unity. Pressure units are divided into metric units and imperial units. Among them, the pressure unit is essential, and there will be relevant descriptions in the design, application, and product characteristics. Using the simple formulas below, you can easily convert psi to bar. Valve and pipe fitting systems have many important parameters. For example, to convert 50 psi to bar, you can use the following formula: bar psi 0.0689475729. |
