![]() related to both humans and chimpanzees, but not an ancestor of eitherīrunet disputes these interpretations and cites a study done in 2005 as conclusive evidence for his claims.a common ancestor of humans and chimpanzees.tchadensis has advanced features, such as a thickened brow ridge, that are more similar to those of later fossil Homo and different from all australopithecines. If the remains are from a direct human ancestor, then the status of the australopithecine group as human ancestors is questioned. tchadensis has numerous derived hominin features and is therefore the oldest known human ancestor after the split of the human line from that of the chimpanzees. Does it belong on our family tree or is it an ancestor of a gorilla or chimpanzee? If it does belong on our family tree, was it a direct ancestor or a distant hominin 'cousin'? DistributionĪll fossils have been recovered from Toros-Menalla in the Djurab desert of Chad, Africa. Combined, the name means 'the Sahel man from Chad'. The species name is based on Chad, in recognition that all specimens were recovered from that country. ‘Sahel’ is the area of Africa near the southern Sahara where the fossils were found and ‘anthropus’ is based on the Greek word meaning ‘man’. ![]() As most of the diagnostic features are missing, the question of whether the femur represents a biped (or hominin) is extremely difficult. The femur was not recognised as possibly belonging to a hominid until 2004. Taphonomic analysis reveals that the various pieces may not have been deposited at the same time, perhaps they were even transported and reburied in modern times. However, they are not confirmed as belonging to the same species as the cranial remains. Two other possible hominin bones (a left femur and a mandible) were found alongside these remains, as were various mammal pieces. It was somewhat crushed and distorted when first discovered and some of its detail had been eroded by blowing sand. The cranium (TM 266-01-060-1) was made the type specimen. The finds included several jaw pieces, some teeth and a small but relatively complete cranium nicknamed Toumaï (‘hope of life’ in the local language). The team announced the new species in 2002. The discovery of six fossils (with identification numbers starting with TM 266) was made by a team, lead by Michel Brunet, between July 2001 and March 2002. This was possible because many of the fossil animals found at the site were identical to specimens that had been radiometrically dated elsewhere. The site lacked volcanic ash layers so was not suited to using radiometric dating techniques. This is a key date as it is about the time that scientists believe the human-line diverged from the ape-line. All rights reserved. The remains are dated to 6-7 million years old. The chip - this pin connects all the free-wheel diode cathodes so that they can suppress Thirdly you must connect pin 9 to the motor positive supply or you'll risk destroying ![]() You can limit current to each motor with a resistor in its own circuit, or collectively withĪ common resistor between the motor supply and all the motors. That's bad, ground is the reference, always connect grounds together without resistance. Secondly you propose adding a resistor to limit current to the GND pin of the ULN2003. Remember which device you're using, pretty much any darlington driver will be ![]() (However you can always use 1k resistors if you like - then you don't have to The ULN2003 has 2.7k input resistors built-in. Silly question but I am assuming the base current only matters when the pin is being switched ? ie: there is no need to worry about it when the outputs from the Arduino are low ? You take the desired current flow through the transistor and divide by the Beta to get the minimum Base current you need to provide ? If it is always the same then you are saying that as long as the calculated minimum base current is less than 20mA I can use a 200 Ohm resistor on the input side ? (since as you say - the calculation you provided gives the minimum Base current and anything higher is ok) Is the voltage drop across the diode always 1V or is that variable according to the desired current flow as well. I'm not sure I understand the second part of your explanation fully. I only have 0.00677864 BTC in total (haha) but you deserve a few fractions of a bitcoin for that ! That explains more to me in a few sentences than all the information I've tried hunting down all over the Internet. Thank you for the really clear explanation. Just not the order of calculations I need to do. I include a diagram to summarise my thinking and from where I am starting. I am completely new to electronics and my knowledge is limited to Ohms law but I think my confusion is compounded by not knowing fully how the current used by the Darlington effects the current in the input circuit.Ĭan anyone help me adopt a methodical approach to sorting out the calculations I need to do or to correct any wrong concepts I might have. You can maybe see my thinking is going round in circles. If so, I know I can calculate the current from Ohms law in the circuit being switched but I'm perplexed how I can determine the required input current from this and even if I could will it exceed the safe 20mA the Arduino prefers and therefore conflict with the decision to limit the current to that amount. Is this true ? Do I need to base the calculation of the input switching current to the Darlington on the current in the circuit that is being switched ? and therefore I need to know the relationship between the current in the switched circuit to the current in the switching circuit so I can choose a resistor that does not limit or exceed the input current to below or above (respectively) that required to switch the Darlington. I was told that the input current required by the Darlington depends on the current in the circuit being switched (I had thought it was independent). ![]() this doesn't take account of the current already being used by the Darlington Array. ie: all else being equal add a resistor to bring down the current from the supplied 40mA. To protect the Arduino I should limit the current in the circuit to 20 mA. The 5V outputs on the Arduino side is compatible with the Darlington inputs but I'm confused as to how I determine the resistance I need in the circuit owing to the competing needs of the Arduino and Darlington. My understanding (misunderstanding) so far. I know I could use relays or individual transistors to do the job and which in many ways might be more straightforward but the all in one size and cost of a Darlington appeals to me and I think once I have the calculations sussed it may prove to be an invaluable resource for this and any future projects so whatever arguments there may be against it's use (I keep an open mind) I would still like to understand the procedure. I'm hoping someone can explain in the simplest way possible the calculations I need to do for BOTH the circuits involved (The Arduino side of the Darlington and the circuit being switched side) to make sure I neither damage the Arduino or the Darlington array by the current and voltage I use for the motors (or any other component) in the circuit being switched. I am trying to get my head around how to use an Arduino Uno R3 with a Darlington Array 2003A to drive a series of small electric hobby motors. ![]() Smoke rises from the sniper’s gun as he fires from the tower of the University of Texas administration building in Austin, Texas, on crowds below, August 1, 1966.Ĭlaire Wilson James had just finished an anthropology test when she and her boyfriend, Tom Eckman, began walking through campus to put a nickel in the meter where their Volkswagen was parked. Authorities would later say Whitman had 700 rounds of ammunition, though how many times he fired between around 11:48 a.m., as the attack began, and when he was killed about 90 minutes later is unknown. The footage, which Maitland said hadn’t been previously accessed since the 1970s, appears in the documentary and provides the much of the visceral, seemingly endless sounds of booming gunfire throughout it. When the shooting started, a TV station near to the clock tower rolled a camera close - some say it was onto a balcony, others remember it as by an open window. ![]() “But what was answerable was what it was like to survive.” “We would never know the answers to those questions,” he added. “I felt like really every other newspaper article, magazine article, the one bad TV movie and other kinds of basic-cable, true-crime investigations were always about the sniper and trying to unravel his motivations,” Maitland said, panning a 1975 Kurt Russell made-for-TV offering called “The Deadly Tower.” Whitman’s name isn’t mentioned until more than hour into the film. The sniper’s face doesn’t appear in animation only his legs are shown after he’s killed by police and a store manager who made their way to the top of the clock tower. Police and ordinary Texans would eventually rush to get their own guns and fire back, in vain, at Whitman from the ground. Some scrambled for any cover they could find in the nearly 100-degree heat. Men, women and a newspaper delivery boy were shot without warning, before they even knew to be afraid - and some survived. Rather than focusing on the sniper, though, the documentary explores what it was like on the ground during his rampage. ![]() He had killed his wife and mother prior to heading to the tower, one victim died a week later and medical examiners eventually attributed a 17th death to Whitman in 2001. The documentary has begun opening in theaters nationally, five decades after an attack in which Whitman, then 25, killed 13 people and wounded nearly three dozen others. No authority saying ‘Stand back.’ We were able to go straight onto the campus.” There was no police tape marking anything off. “It was really an unbelievable scene, unlike anything anyone had ever seen before and you didn’t have any frame of reference,” Spelce, then 30, said in a phone interview. ![]() Nothing like Son of Sam, so please understand Not ya everyday Damien, bathe me in holy water ![]() Ought to not even bother to scream, it don’t even matterĪmazing when grazing skin with these razor blades he waves at ya Jump out on you now like I was a Jawa from fuckin’ Star Wars Such nostalgia and power, such prowess, look how you cower Must’ve just heard the sound of my stomach How did you figure out I was down in your basement? By the way, I like to share with other people all the experiences I go through and something that was useful to me and that I learned and understood, because maybe it will be useful to someone else. And then I applied for jobs, went to some great interviews – I wrote a blog post about it. And considering that Nis is such a small market and that Serbia is unfortunately centralized, then I started looking for a job in Belgrade due to a combination of circumstances at that moment in time.
